Abnormalities on anomaly scan

hi all

Went for my 29 week anomaly scan and they picked up on some abnormalities with the babies heart and put a referral in to get me in to a fetal medicine unit.

I got a call from my local hospital telling me the next available appointment isn't until the 17th may but I could come for a detailed scan to try and give me some answers as I am totally terrified and just want my baby to be ok.

They said they can't confirm everything until I have seen a specialist but they said they have picked up on the left ventricle outflow tract is not visible she said this could mean that it is missing or has shrunk so it's not showing any blood flow through that part.

The 3vv view is only showing 2 vessels with a possible coarctation of aorta.

They found a membranous vsd also they said this could be linked to a chromosonoal abnormalities.

can anyone please give me some hope I'm so scared right now bas anyone had similar experiences?

I have never been in this position but can imagine how awful it must be.

Try not to stress and worry; there is absolutely nothing you can do to change the outcome so stress will only make you feel worse than you already do. Find something to keep your mind active, listen to music that calms you, keep busy, go for a walk. All obvious and won't help in the long run, but better than you sitting petrified and consumed by worry.

I am so very sorry OP, it must be terrible. I hope and pray that a second scan gives you more hope for the future. Flowers

I imagine what would get me thru the uncertain wait is knowing that modern medicine can achieve miracles, so there is a high chance that whatever the problem turns out to be, it can be managed or even fixed.

I had scare at my 20 wk scan with first baby (kidneys, not heart). I cried my eyes out that day but was bored by end of pregnancy. Lots of extra scans including on day of birth, but they finally decided that the baby didn't have a problem at all. That baby is 19yo now. Pfffttt. So I learnt from experience not to take abnormality scans too seriously, not while they aren't certain what they have found, anyway.
