Dd is 4 years old and over the last month we've noticed she has what I'm not sure is either the start of a mole or skin tag at the top of her thigh

Can anyone have a look?

Should I take her to the doctors? It is noticeable and seems to catch when she's pulling up her clothes

Looks like a wart but it's not clear from the photo. Local pharmacist is your best bet. They can offer treatment options or will suggest GP if necessary.

FaithInfinity · 04/05/2019 09:31

Could it be molloscum? DD has them, they are harmless and usually go away on their own. DD sometimes scratches hers til they bleed but I try to just put a bit of cream on them to encourage them to heal.

I would get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Agree looks like molluscum

DecomposingComposers · 04/05/2019 11:35

That looks like molluscum contagiosum.

Fraggle84 · 04/05/2019 14:39

I've taken her to the pharmacy and they think it's a skin tag and said just to leave it 🤔

I agree looks like molluscum, my daughter picked it up after we went swimming. Took about a year to disappear but never caused her any discomfort

Alexkate2468 · 04/05/2019 16:33

Looks more like molluscum contagiosum to me (not a doctor but dad had it) she developed more close to the area of the original. It took about 18 months but they went away in their own. The molluscum themselves caused no problems but she did scratch and cause a few to get infected when they developed on patches of eczema...not sure why I’ve told you that....perhaps just something to watch on the off chance your dd does suffer from eczema.

Fraggle84 · 04/05/2019 16:37

I'm not convinced it's a skin tag as the base it quite wide

Should I try and pop it or get anything to put on it?

Looks like there's one starting on her ankle too

Don't pop them because they are highly contagious.

nauseous5000 · 04/05/2019 16:49

It's molluscum. Not a HCP but DD had them. They're v contagious so don't touch. If they're not bothering her/ somewhere they'll rub then leave them be, but there is a v effective gel you can get from pharmacy if necessary, but it does burn and is v expensive. Keep it in mind tho. It's called molludab

paranoiamumma · 04/05/2019 16:57

That is definitely a molluscum my daughter had them currently , she originally only had two but one got caught and bled and now She had 10 , I keep them covered mostly , she's sadly had them for over a year now.

Fraggle84 · 04/05/2019 16:59

Is she likely to get lots of spots then?

I don't think she'd be happy with it if it stings as she is only 4 but if it stops it then I could try using it when she's asleep

The one at the top of her leg does bother her when she's pulling up her trousers and underwear as it catches

OP posts:
DecomposingComposers · 04/05/2019 17:33

Not lots of them but they are contagious and she might spread them around if she touches them.

You should not let her share towels etc or they will spread around the family.
