Train tickets -any tips?

Hello does anyone have any tips please for getting the best price for train tickets (2 adults, not eligible for any railcards)?

We’re travelling Manchester to Inverness in July and before I just click ’buy’ on the Trainline site, wondered if there are any tips?

Thanks in advance. :)

Absolutely brilliant thanks. I’m out of the MSE habit for some reason.

Really appreciated.

You can get a "Two Together" railcard.
Personally I avoid the Trainline site-they may not be. now but they were always more than directly with the train company

Thanks. Yep pleased about the two together card. There are some options now to save a bit of cash.

Family and Friends railcard? We use ours a lot, even just popping into town.

Have a look at split ticketing on the MSE site. Worth looking at seperate tickets Manchester to Edinburgh Haymarket the Edinburgh to Inverness. Bear in mind that if train delays mean you miss your connection you can't judt jump on the next one like you can with a straight ticket (unless you get open tickets rather than for a specific train)

I use the virgin trains site and my first search is just under 12 weeks away (regardless of when im travelling) if you search a few earlier and later trains from 11- 12 weeks away you can see the cheapest available tickets and route. You can then back track and search those criteria around the dates you're flexible to travel.

My quick Manchester - Inverness search taking a lunchtime 12.20 train, 1 change arrive Inverness 8pm is £42 best price I found oneway for the two of you.

Thank you Ripple
