There's so many good ones I can't single one out but my Top Three, in no particular order, is:

If I Were A Carpenter - The Four Tops;

I'm Still Waiting - Diana Ross;

The Tears Of A Clown - Smokey Robinson And The Miracles.

IndigoSpritz · 02/05/2019 22:27

Rick O Shay. Aretha Franklin recorded for Atlantic Records, not Motown. As far as I know, Martha And The Vandellas didn't record Rescue Me, but Fontella Bass had a major hit with itSmile.

You don’t happen to know who sang Mr Big Stuff? Grin

violeticecream · 02/05/2019 22:34

Mr big stuff is by jean knight. It's a great song Smile

Hobbes8 · 02/05/2019 22:36

25 miles by Edwin Starr.

When he died someone at work didn’t know who he was so I demonstrated the full “War! Hurrrr! Good god, y’all” for their benefit. I think they were impressed.

RickOShay · 02/05/2019 22:37

Thanks Violet
I used to rewind and listen to it over and over again.

SarahMontague · 02/05/2019 22:38

Got to Give It Up - Marvin Gaye

Just My Imagination - the Temtations

whathaveiforgottentoday · 02/05/2019 22:39

Love Mr big stuff but my favourite it 'ain't no mountain high enough' Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye' such chemistry singing together

IndigoSpritz · 02/05/2019 22:40

Likewise, Dionne Warwick wasn't on Motown. She recorded for Scepter in the USA, with mainly Bacharach and David songs.

Hobbes did you perform the Hakka along with it? Wink

Isleepinahedgefund · 02/05/2019 22:41

Ooohhh so many, can I even choose?! I was brought up on Elvis and Motown.

My favourite song ever ever is You Can’t Hurry Love (supremes) - has been since I was about 4 (am 40).

Stevie - too many to choose from. Maybe Contract On Love for my favourite Motown SW track.

If I could only take one album into space, I’d take Songs in the Key of Life.

I could go on and on!
