@Lastbustowhitehawk

It really is. Such a beautiful song with such a heartbreaking sentiment. I intend to have it at my funeral.

Thanks for you at the loss of your father.

Level 42 running in the family. Something about the line "things that we were born to do".

"My first night alone without you" by Bonnie Rait.

When DH was dying at home (took a year) and my DC were little I used to go down into the basement in the middle of the night and howl as I listened to Everybody Hurts by REM. I found it incredibly comforting.

notacooldad · 03/05/2019 10:56

Black by pearl jam.
The end is poignant
"Yeah
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky
But why
Why
Why can't it be
Why can't it be mine'

I have known this feeling!!!

You'll never walk alone, knew this song from being little.
My dm loved musicals and would take me to see them any chance we got. It was only when I saw this again as a teenager that I really understood the story.

Skinandbones · 03/05/2019 13:45

David Sylvian's "Before the Bullfight" is simply achingly beautiful and heartbreakingly sad.
It's about a couple in relationship that is breaking down but the protagonist still deeply loves his partner but knows they've come to the end.
I think many of us could relate to it.

"If I'm losing you, then there's nothing more than I can say.
The fighting is on, the battles are won or thrown away.
But if I could live safe and sound, in God given fields or mountains of steel, then here I'd stay...until you're gone".

Under Pressure by Queen & David Bowie used to make me well up a tiny bit, but it came on the radio earlier and it just hit me that neither Freddie or David are still with us and I bawled like a baby.
