Looking to move that way, work will be fine in any region but need inspiration!

We would like a town or village with good schools, friendly, plenty to do, a village shop at least.....and that's about it.

So far weve liked
Budleigh Salterton
Wincanton
Culmstock

All for different reasons

I know people who really like Topsham, Bovey Tracey and Ide around Exeter. 'Plenty to do' is going to be tricky as places like Budleigh Salterton are Summer destinations, they seem to shut down a lot in Winter.

By things to do I mean with the littlies, so we're happy going on walks and things but I'd like to keep up they're baby swimming classes and the like.

Topsham we love but we are a little priced out sadly! Will look at the other two you mentioned, thank you

Castle Cary seems nicer than Wincanton.

Topsham is nice but expensive

Okehampton is on the other side of the Moor to Bovey Tracey. A small town but with quite a few amenities, lovely park, swimming pool, and right on the edge of the moor, so plenty of walks

Will you need transport, some small towns have train stations, but many do not. Public transport can be sporadic.

Crediton may also suit your needs, quite close to Exeter with rail links but cheaper than places like Ide and Topsham

Thank you for the ideas, will look them all up. With regard to transport, happy driving, no need for public transport
