How many days does stew keep after defrosting?

I made an Irish stew (meaty) a few weeks ago, and froze some immediately. I defrosted the lunchbox today and had some, but there's some left over. How long will the left over stew keep? I assume I shouldn't refreeze, right? (I need smaller lunchboxes!)

No, don't refreeze. Did your reheat the entire portion?

If I had frozen a large portion I would reheat what I wanted to eat but would never reheat twice.

but no, don't refreeze

Thought not re refreeze!

I had to defrost the whole thing as it was just an ice block. Am I not ok to reheat again tomorrow then?

Probably not but I do it. I just make sure it's boiling hot.

Did you heat the entire thing, or just the portion you wanted to eat?

dementedpixie · 01/05/2019 15:58

You're supposed to eat within 24 hours of defrosting

I would reheat again tomorrow, but then grew up with stew etc feeding us for 3 days. Kitchens were cold.

I put it back in the fridge and will eat it for up to 4 days after, provided it was frozen soon after cooking and it gets thoroughly blasted before I eat it.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 01/05/2019 16:15

I’d just reheat it tbh.
