I need a treat. What can I get that is lovely, inexpensive, and just for me?

I've just gone back to work after maternity leave, so I'm skint and waiting for my first paycheck. The baby isn't really sleeping, DH has been extremely busy with work, it's raining. I feel fat and a bit dull, and I have this very childish desire for something nice, like a toddler longing for one of those little bags of Haribo. I'm always buying things for the children, or the house and garden, but never just me. Even my mother's day present was liberally shared (chocolates)

Any ideas? Ideally I'd like a posh coat or a diamond ring, but the budget won't quite stretch Grin

Primark and other shops like next do lovely perfumes that are cheap. A nice perfume always cheers me up and makes me feel good xx

A pedicure?
Pretty toenails give me weeks of pleasure!

Osquito · 30/04/2019 20:56

Bottle of perfume/luxury body cream, or a 3-month subscription to a magazine or music streaming service, or a local workshop (flower arranging, ukulele for beginners, foraging, whatever)

Teddybear45 · 30/04/2019 20:57

A Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate

Squiff70 · 30/04/2019 20:58

Make-up? Maybe a nice new eye shadow pallette or something to give you a bit of a lift?

Osquito · 30/04/2019 20:58

Sorry Blush totally missed the inexpensive bit!!! I stand by my first 2 suggestions, just toned down: a good fat magazine or a bottle of scent!

Fatted · 30/04/2019 20:59

Nail varnish? I know exactly what you mean about how you're feeling and always end up buying something like nail varnish, make up or body lotion etc when I'm like that.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 30/04/2019 20:59

Nail varnish Mavala do lovely little bottles at less than £6. Or set yourself up a makeup subscription with Loon Fantastic I think I used to pay £15 a month and loved it!

Radoy · 30/04/2019 20:59

A haircut and blow dry or a manicure - just the chance to go out on your own and do something just for you?

Or a nice lipgloss/lipbalm/lipstick. Not too expensive and always feels like a treat.

Well done for getting back into the job. Never easy and you deserve a treat. :-)

A nice li balm or hand cream, I love the ones from the body shop because the smell lasts ages xx

Some lovely nail polish. This site stocks lovely independent brands. Have a look at the thermals, I feel like I am actually magic when I wear them and watch my nails change colours!

A glossy travel magazine.

RagingWhoreBag · 30/04/2019 21:05

One of my favourite things is my foot massager. It means even watching TV is a little treat Smile

SuperPixie247 · 30/04/2019 21:07

Definitely a lipstick if you wear it Smile

Or some inexpensive costume jewellry?

Millie2013 · 30/04/2019 21:08

Stationery! It’s one of my go-to mini treats

Chilledout11 · 30/04/2019 21:09

Eyebrow shape and tint
Home hair colour
Bunch of flowers or pot plant
Nice bubble bath
New earrings (can be cheap)

Our libraries are now online and you can loan e books for free, have a look to see if yours do something. Nothing better than snatching a few pages of a good book , and it could be completely free.

superking · 30/04/2019 21:11

If you like a bath then a nice bath oil. Bought myself a cowshed one a couple of weeks ago for this exact reason.

suziQ10 · 30/04/2019 21:15

Lush bath bombs.
Expensive salon shampoo and conditioner

Butterymuffin · 30/04/2019 21:17

Something new to read, a book that is just your thing?

Have recently got into beauty subscription boxes and they give you the pleasure of a surprise arriving if you like that. You can usually use a discount code to get one for under a tenner.

baubled · 30/04/2019 21:18

Semi perm eyelash extensions.

TeaForTheWin · 30/04/2019 21:21

I really enjoy ordering a little bundle of perfume samples (ebay) from time to time. It's really fun opening the parcel and trying all the different smells. Mind you I dunno if it's wise when preggers lol.

Korean skincare/makeup samples are fun too.

Marlena1 · 30/04/2019 21:22

I had this exact thought today. Got a nice pair of PJs.

ivykaty44 · 30/04/2019 21:24

Download your local library ebook and audio book app, dim the lights and put on an audio book, try the bathroom and take a couple of nice chocolates

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 30/04/2019 21:24

Something for your bath that smells lovely and will make your skin feel soft. The browse around boots / lush to choose will be fun too Smile
