We're merging some sections

Hi all,
We’re doing some work on making the Talk boards more useful and user-friendly for both regular and new users. After looking at some stats for the site, we think we could boost activity on the whole by merging some of the lesser used sections.

We’re proposing to fold this section into the general Chat area.

This should increase the number of topics in the section - and hopefully lead to more posts and responses to members.

Hooray! I reckon you could get rid/merge about 25% of topics.

I like this board! I wish there were more mods to move posts out of AIBU into the right sections and keep WWYD. So much traffic in chat that posts get missed

I agree. A mechanism to get more threads in the "right" sections that is acceptable would be good

Could merge Home Decor with DIY.

Just don't lose Christmas - it's vital for us Christmas nuts who plan it all,year long.

I really like weather as well (where would Gloria Smud and OYBBK hang out?!)

And preppers may not be busy, but it is very useful info to have in a discrete place

I think a lot of people don't consult topics any further than what shows up on the recent active screen. This is actually really good for those regulars who have our niche topic hangouts because it keeps conversations on point. Please leave the topics alone

I vote not to merge topics but maybe WWYD could have relevant threads moved from AIBU to raise WWYD topic profile?

AIBU is always going to be top billing because it is like whackamole!

Don't people mainly look at active convos? Ie they don't necessarily go to AIBU topic? If so, get rid of AIBU (please!!) and hopefully ops will put their posts in a more appropriate place, bearing in mind we still have Chat and Other Subjects.

I think Telly addicts and Streamed TV can be merged.

I also don’t know why we have a dog, cat, horse, fish, small animal forum and then one called pets. Surely that’s covered in the previous ones and could go.

Home decoration and house keeping could merge, I always wonder which one my question belongs in.
