Amazon fire kids - how do you know which apps are ok?

My 7 and 4 year old share an Amazon fire tablet with unlimited kids apps. I have the age setting for them both at a year younger than they are and thought that was enough of a control.

Recently my DS(7) got very into Ninjago, but then was 'ninja-ing' his sister repeatedly so I went onto the tablet to remove the Ninjago videos and games.

I thought I would pare down the rest of the apps as they pretty much watch or play garbage, but it's impossible to know what any of the apps do/are without looking them all up individually online and there are hundreds!

I could block them all and then add in a few that I know but this seems excessive.

How do you deal with it?
