Booking.com

We've booked an apartment through Booking.com and the owner has asked to pay him in cash when we arrive.

I'm fine with this but wonder if it's against any of B.com rules?
I've tried to have a look on their site but can't see anything which either means it's ok or definitely a no-no. Grin

As long as you aren't paying him twice then it shouldn't be a problem.
Some places don't take any money upfront, and I've paid cash at hotels before from booking.com

I've only ever paid at the accommodation and we use booking.com a lot

The thing about booking . com is the huge commission they charge both the customers and the owners.
My guests last week paid €850, which included 10% "city tax". I will be charged about €80 in commission and "payment charges". It is worth noting that the local tax which B.Com collects "on my behalf " would actually only have cost them €17.50 if paid direct.

And my final moan - I won't see a penny until the 15th of the month after the guests leave.

I use booking.com mainly because you don’t have to pay in advance, that’s part of the selling point for me.

Thanks everyone, feel reassured now.
