Herpes and pregnant friend...

Sorry, posting for traffic. I should probably name change but never mind.

I got Herpes about 10 years ago from DH. Very early on in the relationship. It was horrendous but i’ve never had a reoccurrence until now. I’ve been run down had a virus already. I started antivirals on Sunday and am going to see my gynaecologist on Wednesday, although it’s not been officially diagnosed I remember how it was last time. I have a cold sore on my lip, a random sore on my leg, which might be aggravated eczema but feels like a sore, the rest is in the usual lucky area!

I’m supposed to be meeting friends tomorrow, one of whom is due to give birth in the next few weeks. I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to go, I don’t want to pass anything on and, if I can keep my distance, no hugging, kissing or sharing drinks would I be a risk to her? It’s a surprise Baby shower so I would hate to miss it but I don’t want to comprise my friends health or her baby’s. As it’s an STD I wouldn’t want to ask friend directly. What do you reckon?

It will be fine

Agree with the pp, just let her know that you won't give her a kiss as you have a cold sore.

Poor you, you must be feeling crappy, are you feverish at all? Will you even feel well enough to go?

Thanks for the advice, that’s reassuring. I’ll go but i’ll keep my distance. I’m not feeling that bad, was a bit aches last week but I think that was the other bug. Nothing like first time I got it, i was sooo I’ll!
