...tell me about your job please?

Is it stressful? Are they flexible? Is it easy to move up or sideways? I'm considering changing from local authority to central government and trying to weigh the pros and cons.

It very much depends which department you work for and the grade you are. I would expect reasonable flexibility, but each department has its own approach. Best to be more specific if you can.
