Passing tissue after abortion

I had an abortion two months ago. I was 8 weeks. It was a very traumatic experience and something I could have never prepared for. I was in agony and thought I passed it all. Afterwards I bled a lot for a couple of weeks and thought it was normal . Then it stopped and I started spotting again. I have been spotting since. Today I started bleeding and thought it was my period regulating. It was very painful but light bleeding. Then I passed something so I went to the toilet and in my pad was tissue almost the size of my thumb. I'm so traumatised and feel so stupid. Could this be the embryo? I don't know what to do. I will go to the doctors asap but was wondering if anyone had a similar experience?

I had a TFMR a couple of years ago but the process was very similar. I stopped bleeding then a couple I had w really heavy, clotty bleed. I rang the hospital and they said unless I was going through a maternity pad in an hour it was probably ok. They suggested that I might have been doing too much (carrying my 2 year old) and that i’d Disturbed the area where the placenta had been, almost like pulling the scab off, I thought. If you’re Concerned though, give them a ring.
