Renewing passport query

Does anyone know if I need to send my birth certificate in when renewing my passport? It's not clear on the guidance note.

No - I renewed mine recently online and the only thing I had to send was my old passport, they wouldn’t process the new one until they’d received it

No, you simply send in the passport you are paying to replace. The ID checks would have been carried out when you applied for your first passport.
