Gutted...lost the diamond out of my engagement ring

I'm gutted. While away with work I looked down and noticed the main diamond missing from my engagement ring. On closer inspection one of the claws has snapped. I'll have had it coming up four years. DH has been very sweet about it and said we'll get it replaced. It wasn't super expensive but we've got other priorities at the moment.
Need to dig out home insurance policy but what's the chance of it being covered? It wasn't named as a specific item cos I forgot Blush it cost DH under £1000 though is worth more so could we possibly be covered for the purchase price?

Sorry you have lost your diamond.

Since it's value is less than 1k it should be covered by your household insurance as long as you have personal possessions cover.

I recently lost a tiny stone on the halo of my ring it cost me £95 to replace.

You will need personal possessions cover on your policy and its value not cost is what will be taken into account. Different policies have different amounts where you need to specify items, but £1000 is common. Who is your insurer?

I did same and took ring to a jewellers with diamond certificate and they repkac d the diamond with a repkacemnrt one, much cheaper than.newring. I'm in w Yorkshire if you want their details.

I've had this happen twice. First time we were on holiday camping and I claimed on our household insurance. They were great, the ring was sent off and the diamond replaced without any hassle.

Second time, I was walking the dog and the whole flipping ring disappeared as I'd lost weight and it came off as I kept taking my phone in/ out of my back pocket. I cried for days as it was our 25th wedding anniversary that year. I've had the whole ring replaced under insurance, which ended up feeling OK as it's a bit like a new chapter for the next 25 years.

I hadn't insured it specifically, but luckily DH had had it made for me and had kept the original jewellery makers receipt.

You might find it is excluded unless you had the claws checked in the laat three years OP
