Overhearing people talking about you

Last night I went out for the first time in a long time! I got dressed up and felt good, met a friend and had a few drinks.
They had to go so I planned to meet another friend at another bar and while I was waiting for her I got a drink and sat down.

I have really short hair and I heard a group of men go "Jack she's got the same hair cut as you!!!", and they all burst out laughing. Then another went "it looks like a boy from the back."

It isn't the first time I've heard it about them saying I have the same haircut as their friend but it just really upset me to hear them talk about me like that and for a second I wanted to walk out. Especially as I never go out and lack confidence in the first place!

Have you ever overheard strangers talking about you?

In fairness, I've also overheard people say nice things before (funnily enough about my hair) so maybe I shouldn't have felt so bad about it but it just really got to me

Oh yes. H’s family speak another mother tongue to myself and assume I don’t understand a word. It’s nice to know what they really think. I’m all smiles and friendly.

Well, it was someone I knew.

The headteacher I worked for was speaking to someone I line managed and was telling her that I had stopped an order for resources she had made. It was him who had stopped the order. Via an email to me from his PA.

When I overheard him lying, I went over and said that it was him who prevented the order. Not good for my career, but good for my self esteem.

People say nice and shitty things about my hair in particular (its very bright) Ive taken it for a few years, tbh it says a lot about them than it does about you x

A lot of the people on my team at work are quite bitchy, I have over heard some of them calling me a miserable bastard on a few occasions!

My date and I were called fags on a date last week, I did point out to said moron that he was infact in a gay bar.
