How do you pronounce it?

OP posts:
MotherOfGodFella · 27/04/2019 21:04

Tight-you-luh. I may be wrong though.

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2019 21:06

Tit-you-luh

UCOinanOCG · 27/04/2019 21:07

Ah. One of each. I have no idea. I tried to say it out loud and both seemed weird.

MotherOfGodFella · 27/04/2019 21:09

Well it relates to titles doesn’t it? Not tits Grin

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2019 21:11

I thought it looked really weird when I tried to write it out phonetically.

I still think I'm right though Grin

UCOinanOCG · 27/04/2019 21:12

That was my thought too. Titles rather than tits. But tight-U-lar sounds strange.

OP posts:
UCOinanOCG · 27/04/2019 21:13

I think it should be tit-u-lar.

OP posts:
EdWinchester · 27/04/2019 21:14

Tit, not tight.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 27/04/2019 21:14

Definitely Tit!

UCOinanOCG · 27/04/2019 21:15

The tits have it so far!

OP posts:
1WayOrAnother · 27/04/2019 21:16

But cyclical is pronounced sic-lic-al so why can titular by tit-you-lah?

BollocksToBrexit · 27/04/2019 21:16

tit- chew-la (northern a)

Isthisafreename · 27/04/2019 21:16

@UCOinanOCG - I think it should be tit-u-lar.

That's the only way I've ever heard it pronounced. But the u is more ooh than you

thelastgoldeneagle · 27/04/2019 21:17

Look at the Oxford Dictionary site. It has a symbol to click to hear the pronunciation of each word.

Isthisafreename · 27/04/2019 21:18

@1WayOrAnother - But cyclical is pronounced sic-lic-al so why can titular by tit-you-lah?

Because there's an "r" at the end so is tit-u-lar.

UCOinanOCG · 27/04/2019 21:23

I am Scottish. I am pronouncing all the letters!

OP posts:
UCOinanOCG · 27/04/2019 21:25

Tit-yoo-laaarr.

OP posts:
Isthisafreename · 27/04/2019 21:25

Typo correction - "it is tit-u-lar" not "is tit-u-lar"

Isthisafreename · 27/04/2019 21:27

I'd go with a few fewer aaaa's but better to over pronounce than under Grin

UCOinanOCG · 27/04/2019 21:34

I have had wine. I am producing all the aaa's!

OP posts:
MotherOfGodFella · 27/04/2019 21:43

Googled it and it’s TITular. I stand corrected.

LaganOnABubble · 27/04/2019 21:47

Tit you lar

CherryPlum · 27/04/2019 23:29

Personally I would avoid saying it, as it would make me giggle too much. Silly, I know.
