Has the wind delivered anything exciting to your garden?

I was cooking tea earlier when dd2 shrieked that a tent had landed in one of the huge trees in our garden. & indeed, a two man, pop-up tent, is currently folded up behind my fridge-freezer so it couldn't blow any further.

Has anything unexpected ever landed in your garden, courtesy of the wind?

A 9 foot trampoline once landed in my garden having come over the top of the intervening 6 foot fence. The fence was intact. The trampoline was rather bent. They really should have dropped the nets before the wind got up.

Only Mary Poppins. Her brolly was inside out but otherwise OK. She, on the other hand, was cursing like buggery.

Duckswaddle · 27/04/2019 20:30

Our play tent disappeared in the last load of wind we had, found it recently a few doors down when one of our neighbours asked if we’d lost something Blush

lucysmam · 27/04/2019 20:32

Grin @IndigoSpritz. I think I'd be cursing too!

Two chairs and a table once! Those white plastic outdoor things. The neighbour who had lost them was delighted they were damaged so she could buy something new and trendy!

A car. It didn’t come over the wall. Instead it came through the space the big gate left when it was washed away in a cyclone.

I also had a swimming pool pump room under water and full of many of the snakes in the neighbourhood. I didn’t hang around long enough to ask them how they got in.

Only next door's family's recycling. He's a single old guy, but his family bring bags and bags of their own recycling, to put in, or on, as the fortnight progresses, his recycling bin, still bagged like the local instructions tell you not to.

Cravingcake · 27/04/2019 20:47

Our sledges not put away properly since the snow were trying to make an escape but the DH restrained them before they could make it over the fence.

Bunnybigears · 27/04/2019 20:51

A baby seagull came in sideways and now cant get up enough height to clear our 9ft walls and refuses to be guided out of the gate so he is shoiting for his mum and his mum is shouting for him. Oh and he is shitting everywhere!

emwithme · 27/04/2019 20:54

A motorcycle cover, from over the road.

lucysmam · 27/04/2019 21:30

@Bunnybigears that's definitely more exciting than my tent in the tree! I hope the baby seagull is reunited with his Mum soon.

lucysmam Mum seagull seems.to have taken up residence on our shed roof we have scattered bird seed in the yard. Tomorrow while DH is home all day he is going to leave the gate open and leave them to it, hopefully baby seagull will then decide to leave and will have the full length of the back lane to use as a runway to get airborne again.

My neighbours laundry - pants and all! Grin

A long time ago I found a CV printed on heavy duty good paper in my garden on my lawn. The weird part was that it had been folded into a paper aeroplane and sellotaped to keep its shape. Odd way to apply for jobs and did wonder if they’d dropped a load from a plane as my garden is fully enclosed among other gardens with no easy access 🤷‍♀️Grin

Troels · 27/04/2019 21:48

We've got some clear plastic panels this morning after all the wind. I think they are from someones green house.

TheBulb · 27/04/2019 21:53

One of the neighbour’s hens. The amusing part of this is that we can barely see the neighbour’s boundary from our house — she had quite a ride.

Sillybilly1234 · 27/04/2019 21:57

A bright orange windsock!

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 27/04/2019 22:01

A Raven, I feel like I’m in winterfell (and before anyone asks no it isn’t a crow)

nocoolnamesleft · 27/04/2019 22:03

I'm just hoping it isn't a white raven!

RoseMartha · 27/04/2019 22:08

Our trampoline went in someones garden in strong winds we now have it tied down.

CurcubitaPepo · 28/04/2019 09:32

My neighbours roof box complete with roof rack.

Was a few years ago tho.
