Got totally lost

Had to be somewhere today. Left in plenty of time and got to where I should be early but couldn’t find the address
Sat nav was saying I was there
Phone was saying I was there but there was nothing where I was ???
Asked lots of people nobody knew where it was or couldnt give directions one person did and followed them but it didn’t take me there ??

Has this ever happened to someone else ? I spent nearly an hour looking and gave up 😔
Postcode was correct
General area was correct
I just can’t work out why couldn’t find where was meant to be and why nobody had heard of the road
Feeling pretty stupid

Postcodes aren’t always accurate indicators of location, especially in rural areas.

Did you definitely follow the other person’s directions correctly? Or they may have misdirected you (I hate giving directions because I can’t even get left and right correct sometimes Blush).

Also not helpful for now but perhaps for in future - when I’m going somewhere new, I always check out the location on Google Maps (including street view) beforehand. More because I’m nosy than anything else but it does come in handy.

Happened to me a while back. Was meant to be meeting friends at a big event but my satnav led me to a random farm and was very insistent this was the place.

Try not to dwell on it, it’s done now.

Happened before, I buy things off shpock/ebay and some of the estates round here are awful to find, usually just a particular number but streets sometimes too.
Google earth is great you can find the house and remember details so it's easy to recognise when you get there 😊

I do the Google maps street view thing too. I travel a lot for work, in locations I don't know and I often get lost!

If I get very lost I have been known to phone the venue and ask for directions/help.

Postcodes cover quite wide areas, rather than individual houses. I live in a semi rural area and my satnav often takes me to a field on a back road, it's usually the 'other' side of the land between me and where I want to be, so the actual place I'm trying to go will be across fields, or can be reached by driving around. Sometimes it's quite hard to get round!

I was just about to say exactly what @Icedlatte said.
