Toddler rash - teething? Pic

My little girl is 15 months and has not been herself the past few days, lots of tears and cuddly and overly tired. She has about 8 or 9 teeth cutting through at the moment so put it down to that but today have noticed she keeps pulling at her ear and has been trying to put things in it and then noticed this rash on the back of her neck which has just appeared

It's warm to touch but disappears when I press it and pull the skin, could it be from teething? DP is out with friends and it's just us 2 and I'm not sure what to do

I’ve never seen a teething rash on the back of the neck

I would phone up the NHS helpline for advice.

Actually if she is pulling at her ear, I would get her looked at.

I've never heard off teething rash except on the chin from all the excess dribble
I'd second phoning 111

Have you put suncream on the back of her neck?

TigerBreadAddict · 26/04/2019 19:44

It’s not teething (dentist)

HappyDinosaur · 26/04/2019 19:47

Agree you should ring 111, they will probably ask you to do the glass test and then send you to a and e as a precaution. It looks a bit like a heat ornallwrfy rash, either way I'd check it out sooner rather than later.

HappyDinosaur · 26/04/2019 19:48
  • ornallwrfy rash = allergy rash

Agree with PP. Not teething related in my experience. How's her temp? If she's pulling at her ear that's a classic sign of ear inflammation and could be the start of an ear infection. Best to get her checked.

nimfly · 26/04/2019 19:51

Temp is ok and always use sun lotion so not burn. She is a sweaty baby so could be heat related but worried because it just appeared so red and suddenly

She's just fell asleep as this is usually her bedtime but I'm going to call 111 just to be safe, don't want her to be in pain and I've no clue Sad

Could a label on a top have been bothering her?

nimfly · 26/04/2019 19:52

@Mammatron she didn't have her top on for about an hour before the rash appeared so don't think so

Ear infections can escalate very quickly so I hope she will be ok.
