If the hospital say nil by mouth for a day procedure from the night before, that means general anaesthetic doesn’t it? Sorry but it’s years since I’ve had anything done to me and i’m Going on on Monday after a phone call yesterday so no pre op or time really for questions

Sometimes but not always. sometimes they ask people to fast even though they don't get a general anaesthetic just incase they need to give you one in an emergency it's a protocol thing.

Thank you - I know it’s stupid to get worked up about an anesthetic, at least now even if I go in and they say ‘yes, it’s an automatic’, that will be on the day - this weekend I’m going with your answer!
