Tickets I won not forthcoming

I won a competition back in December and the prize was two tickets for a show that is coming on locally soon. The contact acknowledged my initial email claiming the tickets and advised the would be sent about one month prior to the show. I emailed to check as it was coming up and was told they'd be with me in a week. More than a week passed and no tickets so I emailed apologising for pestering but wanting to make sure I hadn't been forgotten. No reply. Left it two days and called up the contact. She said they'd been posted and she would check with the box office and email back. Didn't get email so mailed again today politely asking when I'd get tickets. Still no reply. Not sure if I should email a manager or something as she is clearly ignoring me. Have been looking forward to this show since Xmas and wondering if I'll even get to go now. Does this seem weird or am I not patient enough?

Sorry for the essay if you've read this far Smile

I'd ring daily & if they mess you about put it on social media . Not fair.

PersonaNonGarter · 27/04/2019 01:01

Keep calling! Why wouldn’t you?

HighlandWorrier · 27/04/2019 06:59

Thanks guys don't know what's going on with them. It's a very big well known local venue. I hate being made to feel like I'm pestering and it's taken the excitement of winning out of everything. Was so pleased to have won them as never win anything. I have looked up details for the management team so will email one of them mid next week if still nothing. Really didn't think I'd have to fight for my prize Confused

Can't you call the box office directly?

CuppaSarah · 27/04/2019 07:08

I've heard this sort of thing is quite common with competitions. Sometimes you really have to push to get your prize, there's no shame in it, keep calling till you get the tickets.

HighlandWorrier · 27/04/2019 07:12

Gosh didn't know this was a thing. Rather disappointing. I have a laminated card with all the details so perhaps I should head down there and ask to speak to someone about it. All seems very weird do they give out these prizes on false pretences then?

You could post on their social media pages? I find companies respond quite quickly to a grievance shared publicly

Icedlatte · 27/04/2019 07:15

Doesn't sound like false pretences, just some poor organisation between the competition promoter and the box office.

I have worked in a box office before, if you phone them up and explain you are a competition winner they should have your tickets on the system, under your name or a more generic term to do with the competition. As long as they are allocated on the box office system all is well.

HighlandWorrier · 27/04/2019 07:15

Good idea. I don't really do social media though I might have to reactivate my Facebook account then.

Thanks icedlatte - no promoter involved as it was at their own xmas function where I won the tickets.

I would give the Box Office a call and ask for your booking reference number. You don’t physically need the tickets with you until you reach the venue, you just need to know that the seats are under your name so they are not resold & that when you attend you can get in. You can get them reprinted in the door when you arrive.

It may be the tickets have been dispatched but for whatever reason they’ve not reached you. The venue wouldn’t have control over this. Having worked in a similar environment it does happen quite often.

I agree the Box Office in this case could be a lot better at communicating this with you though.

Thanks Sondor I'll chase again next week i guess as still not turned up in today's post.
