Can you recommend an idea for my big 4.0.?

I am looking for a lovely recommendation for my birthday. It feels like ages since I treated myself and I have no idea where to start! I'm going to be 40 (!!! Shock I don't feel it, but who does??!). Birthday will be in the summer.

Currently TTC for DC1 if that's relevant (keep your fingers crossed for me).

I am v lucky that we had saved a bit and have enough for either one really expensive night away or a few days somewhere / city break - that type of thing. This would be with my DH only - I'm not a huge fan of big parties or anything. I am looking to feel a bit pampered or chilled as the TTC and other stuff has been a bit stressful this year.

Any recommendations of specific hotels or places in either UK or Europe that anyone's been to?

While it's a special day for you and great to have a few days away with DH, don't forget your mum. It's a special day for her too!

The new boathouse at the Lingholm Estate near Keswick

I've never heard of anyone thinking it's a special day for their mum!

Treehouse at chewton glen

I'm keen to stay here also near Keswick in the Lake District. Really like the idea of an outdoor swim in the evenings.

Looks amazing Bazzill. Just rememberSallyif you are pregnant onyoirbirthdayyou can't use most of the spa facilities though.

Lake District is lovely, we went when I was 30 weeks or so and the size of a small house so doesn't have to be all walking etc.

Ed you have NO idea what relationship OP has with her Mum

How about somewhere like Iceland? Something ab it different

MinnieMountain · 26/04/2019 18:09

Is there anywhere you've always wanted to go? I went to Rome for that reason.

BlueSkiesLies · 26/04/2019 18:57

don't forget your mum. It's a special day for her too

That is so random

Muddlingalongalone · 26/04/2019 18:59

I would go to Le Manoir. It looks so fab and a friend went on one of their courses and confirmed amazingness.

Thank you for these suggestions! Am going to research now. In answer to your question @MinnieMountain I would love to go to Croatia but don't think it's going to work for a short trip / budget, and also Santorini but that is incredibly expensive!!

@EdtheBear I have no idea why you would say that about my Mum and wasn't sure if it was meant as a joke? In any case I am not close with her at all so I think I'll pass on that one thanks! It's actually a miracle I've made it to 40 in one piece and no thanks to her.ConfusedHmm
