Do you have any French Gite stories?

I haven't been to France for years and years, but will be this Summer and staying in a gite for the week. Does anyone have any stories (funny/strange/lovely) about staying in a French Gite or have any tips? Thank you

Once upon a time there was a French Gite who lived in the middle of a forest. He was a very lonely French Gite because no one ever came to stay.
So he got himself a Wifi connection and joined Trip Advisor. He gave himself some lovely reviews and then lots of people came to stay.
He was never lonely again.
