Requests for house swaps

On a FB group I’m on, I’ve just seen a post which says “Exchange wanted!!! 3 bed semi detached with drive in Hertfordshire want 4 bed house in Highgate / Hampstead”.

I don’t have an encyclopaedic knowledge of Hertfordshire, Hampstead or Highgate - I am sure that there are more expensive parts of Hertfordshire and slightly less expensive parts of Highgate or Hampstead. However I should think that a 4 bed in Highgate or Hampstead would be significantly more expensive than any 3 bed in Hertfordshire, semi detached or not.

How do house swaps work? Do both houses get valued and the difference get paid?

I agree. Do they mean literally to buy - or is it referring to a council exchange required, or even a holiday let swap?

Are you sure they weren’t swapping council houses ?

That was the entire post. There haven’t been any responses so perhaps she is just trying her luck.

I think it is a misprint. I think it should say "Request for house wasps".

The value of insects is pretty much the same across most parts of the UK with wasps an house flies in particular being in a broad general range. Bees on the other hand tend to vary with Hertfordshire bees being more valuable than say Camden bees.

The last time we exchanged wasps with a family from Somerset it was a straight swap, but we did throw a newt in to sweeten the deal.

It’s a brand new member and she’s still had no responses.
