Please help me find this film!

For such a long time I've had a vague memory of a film I watched when I was quite young. I think it was 90s...

It was about a woman who left her baby outside a shop and he was taken. Years later he returned. He was a bit odd, had glasses, nervous. Kept pushing them up. He ended up being a psychopath and I think he ended up dying in an ice hole. I could be wrong!!

I remember one scene where the mum was crying and squeezing nappy pins so hard her hand bled.

OP - she should never have left her child outside a shop in the first place. Unless it was a garage and she was paying for petrol and it would have been more dangerous to leave the child than walk him across the forecourt. Also, reusable nappies are very commendable but she should try the ones with Velcro tags - those pins are quite sharp.

Did you mean you watched the film in the 90's or it was a 90's film? Sounds very seventies to me (and weirdly familiar...)

It's a 1990 film called Stranger Within. Another poster got it! Has been bugging me for ages!!!
