Has this got to be the most garish house ever seen?

My eyes! There are other colours than white and black. Such a shame what they've done to an otherwise stunningly Art Deco building

Monochrome, not monotone. The bathroom and kitchen were certainly garish when they bought it. It's very stark - there are no pictures on the wall, nothing. It could be beautiful.

12pen · 25/04/2019 23:18

I think they’ve ruined it. The garden is now just tarmac and they chopped all the trees down.

Screams of a builder’s house to me. There’s no way it’s worth £700k either, even with all the tacky glitz shoved on

It's like a mrs hinch house. I feel like it would actually mess with your brain seeing that little colour

MyfanwyMontez · 25/04/2019 23:20

They would be hard pushed to get £700 for it. It’s the Valleys.

ScrambledToe · 25/04/2019 23:21

Was kinda hoping there would be a child’s bedroom in there with purely black and white toys

MyfanwyMontez · 25/04/2019 23:21

I mean 700k

12pen · 25/04/2019 23:23

I’ll give them £700 for it Grin would have a few £ leftover for a bunch of Flowers for colour!

I’d say £500k is more realistic , for in reality it’s a 3 bed house not 4.

I love Art Deco, so this is right up my street (not that I can afford it though!)
I think I'd choose to lighten the very dark rooms but leave the rest as they are.
Each to their own taste and all that (and they have stayed true to the exterior of the building).

UCOforAC12 · 25/04/2019 23:27

It's a beautiful house but I would totally redo the decor which takes away from the hefty price tag.

PlatypusPie · 25/04/2019 23:28

It’s lovely from the outside, but the b/w inside is too relentless for comfort.

Drogosnextwife · 25/04/2019 23:29

I mean they have obviously put a lot of effort in and it's like a show home, but it just looks tacky! Although easy to decorate.

turquoiserules · 25/04/2019 23:39

I feel so sad now, when you said garish op I was hoping for clashing colours and floral prints galore! Utterly depressing house.

Poor kids, growing up in that soulless natureless artless monstrosity. Shangri-La my arse!

Chocmallows · 25/04/2019 23:45

I thought garish meant clash of colours too.

I don't mind the white so much, but would change all the black areas to colours and soften some walls with off-white shades, throw in cushions.

Gertie75 · 25/04/2019 23:46

When people have very strict black and white decor I always wonder how they cope with everyday mess, what if someone leaves a coloured coat out or a yellow washing up sponge or a child's toy?

HelpAFattieOutHere · 25/04/2019 23:46

They clearly don't have dogs...

Msgiggles30 · 25/04/2019 23:49

Woah would never have imagined that house being in blackwood 😂

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 25/04/2019 23:54

Blackwood? Where are the sentry guns? The ravenous dogs? The razor wire?

englishdictionary · 25/04/2019 23:55

I love that!!

I hold add some colour furnishing to the rooms but the actual decoration is stunning.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 25/04/2019 23:57

Must have pissed them off that they couldn’t dye the pool black

Grimgle · 25/04/2019 23:59

God, imagine having a hangover on a bright day in that house! You'd need new retinas

I actually prefer the way it was!! 70s retro is much more me. Although admittedly, I'd have toned it down a bit! But some of those tiles would have stayed 😍

MyfanwyMontez · 26/04/2019 00:01

There are some lovely houses in Blackwood and surrounding areas.
Not quite that expensive but where Iive you’re talking about 125 million.
Not expensive to everyone, and certainly I won’t get that for my house - bit expensive for here.

MyfanwyMontez · 26/04/2019 00:02

Aw fuck 1 and and quarter million.

NameChangedNoImagination · 26/04/2019 00:03

Awful imo

MyfanwyMontez · 26/04/2019 00:11

No, I mean £175,000 - I’m getting figures mixed up. Out of my price range .
Sorry, you buy most of Blackwood for £125 million Grin

CassandraCross · 26/04/2019 00:13

The shiny white floor is awful. The whole place has a feel of some Bond villian experimental mind control lair.
