Son Chatting Online to Strangers

Hello fellow parents - I need advice please. We have many Apple devices at home and my son who is 15 doesn't realise that any screnshots he takes from his ipad appear on my Iphone as I am owner of the family circle. I saw a snapshot of him chatting to a female, only two lines. Something about a doorman referring him and the other person said she just bought a bed and then there were no further screenshots. What shoud I do? Do I ignore it and assume all 15 year olds will do this? Do I have a word with him? Please advise!

Not sure I fully understand the situation you describe, but if you suspect he's talking to strangers online, I would sit down and talk to him. I think the NSPCC has some good resources about internet safety.
I think it's very important to impress upon our kids that adult strangers don't have any business interacting with them - be it in real life or online. The trouble with the online world is, that of course anyone can pretend to be anything. Chances are, your son has reasonable awareness, as most schools cover this quite a lot. He may just need a reminder.

Thanks so much forkfun. I do know his school is very good at raising awareness and wondered if reminding him will only make him embarassed seeing as he is propbably just behaving like a normal teenager. To be honest, I'm a bit embarassed to bring up the topic with him myself. Thinking maybe I should just monitor it instead?
