It's a Facebook one - linked with Whatsapp / POF?

I've had a friend suggestion come up on my Facebook. It's a bloke that I chatted to through POF, and then moved to Whatsapp. Never connected with him on Facebook..

How the HELL does Facebook make the connection between us? Is it linked to POF? And if so, why doesn't it suggest all the other guys I chatted to on there? Why only this guy..?

There's loads of reasons that Facebook can connect you...
In this case probably that you've got his mobile number.

In some it's that Facebook knows you were in the same place at the same time.

There's about 80 odd things that influence that algorithm, it really is vast.

In this instance it is probably because you have his phone number. That's where most of mine come from.

I didn't know that, urgh it's creepy isn't it. The only connection I can think of is we had each other's phone numbers. That's all.

I've removed the friend suggestion... he's old news!

Did he know your surname? I'm sure I read once that if you search someone on FB then you may pop up as a friend suggestion. So perhaps he searched you?

There’s a box you can tick on Facebook somewhere that unlinks your phone contacts. So if someone types in your phone number to Facebook you don’t show up. And so people in your contact list don’t get recommended to your profile. I ticked this box when I was adding lots of randomers to my contacts from tinder.

Yeah I think he did know my surname - it's on my Whatsapp. So that's possible I spose.

I'm pretty sure I don't have my phone number on Facebook, so people can't search by my number though.
