I recently arrange a surprise for my sister and you guys were amazing helping me create a poem to reveal the surprise.

I am planning a surprise trip to Las Veags for my husbands 40th birthday soon and I'd love your help to come up with a great reveal.

I've thought about using plays on words that are Las Vegas related.....so things like....

Bet on you
Chips are down / chips fall where they may
The real deal / here's the deal
House always wins
Life is a gamble where he greatest risk is not taking one.

Also we are staying at the Paris hotel so thought it would be funny to use that and make him initially thing I am taking him to Paris.

Is anyone far more inventive than me and come up with something brilliant?

I wish I could help but whenever I read poetry out loud or have any ideas of poetry it sounds more like and IKEA how to put a flat pack together kind of instructions ! hopefully there will be somebody out there that can help you.

Ha ha - thanks Angie - I probably should have used limerick rather than poetry Wink

40 years old, I'll bet you know
When the chips are down there's somewhere to go
To celebrate in style as you're the real deal.
Life is a gamble, get ready to steal
Winning or losing, bet low or high
We're risking it all for a trip you and I.

Best I can do in a few mins as I've got to go to work!!!

Bluesheep8 · 25/04/2019 12:17

How about a simple limerick?

If you were going to France
It could be worth taking a chance
Bon Anniversaire, you can bet that it's fair
Your table is booked in advance!....

Bluesheep8 · 25/04/2019 12:57

Table as in roulette table....

Reaah · 25/04/2019 13:04

The chips are down, get ready to go, you could chose to bet high or low.

That's as far as I have got for now.

Reaah · 25/04/2019 13:22

Bon Anniversaire, you're good to go, place your bets, high or low.
An Arc will just be, a fleeting thing, you will see, on the way to a table.

Limpshade · 25/04/2019 13:43

All bets please! We're flying away
And you may get more than one Eiffel today
They'll say I'm in Seine
To pull you into this game
But I'd rather lose than be called passé

sweetheart · 25/04/2019 15:24

ohhh some great options so far thank you - I'm thinking now maybe a bit less French - the gambling puns are on point Grin

Ok i used some of your ideas and gave it a shot myself - what do you think (disclaimer, I'm crap at this stuff!!!!)

For some people 40 is a reason to frown
Some may even say “The chips are down”
No point hiding and drowning in gin
Because lets face it the house always wins
So I’ve decided to take you somewhere special for dinner
Because to me your always a winner
A special treat has been hard to conceal
But your worth it because you are the real deal
This really could have ended up a shambles
But something special for you was worth the gamble
So we’re taking a trip to the strip
And funs on the cards
Somewhere with lots of Boulevards
The wait’s almost over, here the surprise comes
Have you guessed where we’re going from my terrible puns?
