Fat person looking for lighter life diet buddy

Clouds71 · 24/04/2019 09:50

My diet was supposed to start in January but it’s nearly May and I’m still failing. Starting Lighter Life this week and in need of a buddy to track progress and keep me on the straight and narrow. Have 5 stone to lose but would be happy with 2 stone before attending a wedding in July. Anyone out there?

Hello fellow fat person. I'm in the same boat, started in January but I think it lasted less than a week and I've been on and off since. I have the same amount of weight to lose too and I need something to focus on at the moment and throwing myself into finally losing weight would distract me.

Do I need to be a lighter life buddy, or just a diet buddy?

Clouds71 · 24/04/2019 10:22

Hi Olleh, no need for lighter life - just being in a diet enough. What diet are you planning on doing? I haven’t used Mumsnet before - what’s protocol for buddying? On here or private messaging? Looking forward to being skinny with you Smile

I'm planning on doing weight watchers but from home and using a recipe book and tips and tricks I picked up when I did it years ago(joined for 3months). I don't know the protocol about buddying up but shall we see how it goes at first and if we both feel like sharing more details later we'll work out how ?

Oooh Spain, lovely!
Speak to you soon, have a safe trip home xx

Clouds71 · 25/04/2019 13:12

Hiya, I’m back. Just had a lie in as didn’t get back until early hours. Had my LL bar and filled up my water bottle! Told family I’m not on “normal” food! This has happened many times and usually lasts a week. I need to stick to it this time. How are you getting on today?

olleh · 26/04/2019 07:24

Morning! Forgot to check the mumsnet thread and only remembered around 11pm.

My diet or shall I say my new 'eating life style' is doing well so far. My downfall is eating at night and gobbling on too many snacks, but I haven't in the last two nights which is a major achievement. I also went to the gym when I didn't feel like it and im going to pick up skipping or jump rope as some grown ups like to call it.

How did the rest of your day go yesterday?

Clouds71 · 26/04/2019 20:02

Hiya - we’ll done for not snacking and going to the gym! I’m impressed. The rest of yesterday was good. Today was good until we went to cinema earlier (I had to have popcorn - but stuck to small size!). Just got back and disappeared upstairs whilst rest of family have curry. I could eat the whole lot but not having any. I was invited out tmrw night with friends but have declined as I know I will fall off the wagon. We may be meeting for lunch which is easier to manage. Im not exercising at present until I’ve lost a bit of weight. But keep me posted on how you get on at the gym. Do you do classes or just gym equipment? My name is Claire by the way. Good talking to you xxx

Hi Claire i found you at last, i was close to giving up! I didn't keep a tab open on my phone so I lost your thread and couldn't remember your nickname.

How's your lighter life plan going, I hope you're doing ok? I kinda fell off the wagon from eating at night but it wasn't the usual until I felt stuffed or sick at least. I did some skipping for the first time for about 10mins, not much but it was a start. Also, my increased water intake is sort of getting there. It's slow going but I'm making an effort at least!

I'm surprised there's not more people who want to join this thread to buddy up or encouraged each other who maybe dieting themselves, where is everyone?

WeldMeDaphne · 30/04/2019 23:24

I’ll join in. Not lighter life but I too need to lose a chunk- Holiday in August, I’ve just started a new job and none of my effing clothes fit properly etc etc. I’m starting tomorrow. Got to get the train to the London office but I’ve already made my lunch! Now... can I remember to take it 🤔

DontTouchMyCurls · 01/05/2019 05:46

If like to join too, although I'm just good old fashioned calorie counting but also trying to eat healthier in general and up my veg intake (which isn't hard from practically zero...) and eat brown rice and more fish and chicken and no ham! Cutting down on snacks too, hoping to eventually not feel the need to snack at all

Clouds71 · 01/05/2019 08:13

Well I’ve just looked at this thread and have my buddy back (plus two more!!!). I thought I’d been dropped! My update is that I also fell off the wagon at night. Things ok in the day but the munchies kick in at kids dinner time and at night. I need to just got over early! I’m still persevering though. Great that we have some more members. Everyone welcome regardless of diet or amount of weight to lose. I just need people to keep me going. I think it really helps. Is anyone interested in joining a private Facebook group? All posts would be private to the group. It might be easier to find and follow. I can add a note on here to welcome anymore people to join. If not no worries but I just thought it would make life easier. I’m still lighter lifting with odd meals at times (so basically calorie control also). I look forward to hearing from you all soon xxxxx

DontTouchMyCurls · 01/05/2019 08:41

Yeah, why not. Once you've created it, PM me the link

WeldMeDaphne · 01/05/2019 09:32

Yes- send me a PM when it it’s up and running 😊

user1468234673 · 01/05/2019 10:32

I'm on LighterLife too! x

olleh · 01/05/2019 21:49

Hey Cloud71 (Claire), sorry for making you think I dropped you I'm just rubbish at navigating mumsnet! Also 'hello' to all the other new buddy members 😃

I'm up for a private facebook group, it will be easier.

Right update on my diet... Didn't workout today, had a friend over and also waited in for a plumber to fix my boiler (sounds like a start of a dirty joke!😅). I ate my kid's leftovers, but I didn't feel too bad about it as I cooked garlic prawns tonight and I don't think they're bad for you, I hope! Now all i need to do is not give into my nightly snacking, aarrrrgh!

Like you said Claire maybe I should go to bed earlier too. Oh, and nearly forgot I'm Ling by the way xx

Clouds71 · 02/05/2019 19:47

Hi Ling,
My kids love garlic prawns too!!! I had a bad day yesterday but have had a fantastic one today. I knew I would struggle with Lighter Life so I’m going to mix the products with real low carb food. I went to m&s this morning and found some low carb options and have stuck to it all day. I had to take my daughter to hospital and we passed McDonald’s on way back. I ALWAYS have something to nibble on but didn’t order anything for me!!!!!!! I had my healthy meal when we got back. I actually feel quite full today and haven’t ate as much as normal. However, can’t always shop at M&S as meals and salads expensive. So thought I would swap them for LL when I feel like it. I still can’t get over McDonald’s Shock.

Anyway, I can’t create an FB group as I need one friend to get it started. So I’m going to send you my profile link by pm. If you can send me a friend request, I’ll then create the group and invite everyone. I hope today went well for you. I have lost 4lbs this week so not all bad. Long way to go though. I thought we could set some simple exercise targets each day/week. Just steps or sit ups? Start slow and build up together??? Would be amusing xxxxx

Hi ladies :)

Room for another one?
I'm doing the Exante diet which is a meal replacement shakes etc but there are several options i.e. 5:2, 2 shakes a day and one meal, shakesk only ( I would die! ) so am still finding my feet.

I'm chief bridesmaid for my mum's wedding in 9 weeks and I have my dress but just want to lose weight anyway. I have been fat my whole life and as I have fibromyalgia too I need to lose weight to reduce the pain.

I'm in the north west and am 41 years old with around 5/6 st to lose.

I really need this thread. good luck to you all xx

Zoflorabore · 02/05/2019 20:03

Ps definitely up for the Facebook group.

Clouds71 · 02/05/2019 20:03

Welcome!! I’ve been overweight for a long time and it’s really getting me down. I’m 47 and have a wedding to go to in July. Desperate to buy a nice outfit! We can do this!!! I need a Facebook friend to start my fb Group. I’ll pm you also!

OP posts:
Clouds71 · 02/05/2019 20:08

Ok I’ve pm’d 3 of you now with my Facebook profile link. Let me know if it’s not working! I really want to set up the group so we can get going. Will be much easier to see things and we can post pics (of dodgy diet meals!) xx

OP posts:
Zoflorabore · 02/05/2019 20:12

Ok I've replied and added you so we're on the way! This is exciting.
It's also nice to see a real life person instead of just a username.

We can do this.

Clouds71 · 02/05/2019 20:40

Hiya, group created!!! I hope I have invited the right person 😳. Could be embarrassing lol. Here’s the link.

m.facebook.com/groups/942226046124235?ref=share

I’ve made it a closed group - anyone can find and see that I’m the admin but only members can view posts. Members can’t be seen either. When we are thin we can plaster ourselves all over Facebook. For now we’re under cover Wink

Loobieloo27 · 02/05/2019 20:58

I've just joined the fb group too. I've about 2/3 stone to lose and absolutely no willpower!
