Hi everyone, we are on holiday in Cornwall at the moment, it's going to be raining today so having a day in, I'd like to do a roast, but have never used an Aga before, how long should I cook the beef and potatoes for? Thank you in advance

Move the rack to the bottom of the roasting oven and out the beef in a tin and cook for around 1 hour 20 mins. Depending on how well done you like the beef, the time will give a nice medium roast. Potatoes about an hour. The thing with Aga ovens are all different so it’s difficult to give exact timings. These are times I’d use in mine. Smile

Cover the beef in foil to begin with or it may burn before it cooks through

You dont really have timing with agas- you just look. What fuel is it using?

I would do the beef for 40 mins in the top (hottest) oven then put it in the bottom oven for a couple of hours for it to be cooked through. I always put plenty of liquid in to keep it from drying out. Keep checking it every half an hour to see how it is getting on. Every aga is different so timings vary hugely.

@tanpestryfirescreen it uses oil, the kitchen is always toasty warm when we get up in the morning, we keep it at number 3 if not cooking. The hot plates are just that! The bacon cooks in no time, the first morning, we had burnt bacon 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you everyone, hopefully I won't burn it Hmm

I forgot to post earlier 🤦🏼‍♀️
I did it, roast beef and mash using an Aga, the beef only took 1 hour and 45 mins, I thought it might have taken longer, the beef was perfect, slightly over medium 🥰
Thank you all 👍🏻
