Suggestions for a “cheer up” box for my niece

Fruityb · 23/04/2019 19:28

My niece is 18 and is studying dance at uni. She’s so good and so talented. However she split up with her boyfriend of four years in January (I only just found out as she didn’t tell many people because she was so devastated) and it turns out he’s been a bit of a tit since. They weren’t far away from each other at uni - she’s in Slough and he’s in Westminster - and he just told her he didn’t want a girlfriend anymore. She’s been so down and he’s told her she should be over it by now!!

Anyway I want to put something together for her to give her something to make her smile. I was thinking a little hamper or something. She loves make up and most things 18 year olds do! But I’m a bit out of touch and wondered if there were any suggestions for stuff I could get for her?

She’s my little star and I love her so much. She dotes on my son and we’re close. I’d just like to give her some lovely things so any suggestions would be welcome!

Shobu shower bombs
Nice hand cream
Lip balm
Face mask
A dvd
Cute socks
One of those hot chocolate spoons which is really a lump of chocolate on a stick
Some pillow spray

Just to add to the fab ideas above -
Costa coffee

Cinema voucher
Book

Costa coffee voucher I meant (or any other coffee shop she may go to)

I don't have any ideas for what to include, but I'd suggest putting it in a piñata for her. It's fun and silly and if she's feeling crap about him, she can work out some of her annoyance Wink

Bamchic · 23/04/2019 19:57

Some new pjs maybe an M&S or Waitrose gift voucher -
Some nice chocs
Wine
Face mask
Bubble bath

Pineappleunder · 23/04/2019 19:58

Depending on your budget, tickets for a pop concert/ musical / ballet.

A beautybox subscription?
You can get it for a few months, then cancel.
Glossybox is a good one.

NameChangedNoImagination · 23/04/2019 20:00

Oh my goodness what a lovely kind idea.

Some pretty costume jewelry
A nice notebook
Cookbook of another culture
Grown up liqueur

Medicaltextbook · 23/04/2019 20:02

Great ideas, also a real card and saying you are at the end of a phone/email.

TapasForTwo · 23/04/2019 20:05

Aw. You sound lovely.

Valentinesxdayideasxx · 23/04/2019 20:06

Her favourite chocs or sweets
Cozy blanket
A picture drawn by your ds
Nice bath bomb and few face masks
Gift card for a local restaurant (nandos are cheap and are everywhere)

GlubGlubGlub · 23/04/2019 20:08

Op you sound so lovely. I agree with the previous suggestions. Lush bath bombs/bubble bars, sheet face masks and maybe some hotel chocolat chocolates.

Valentinesxdayideasxx · 23/04/2019 20:08

I think whatever you put in it will be lovely. Lovely thoughtful idea

Figure8 · 23/04/2019 20:11

Maybe something fun for her to do with friends? Ie vouchers for segway tour or similar?

BlueMerchant · 23/04/2019 20:11

All pp's are fab suggestions.
How about treating her to a really nice make-up palette or take her out for lunch and treat her to a really nice 'posh' new lipstick to perk her up. Something luxury.

stucknoue · 23/04/2019 20:12

Look on group on, how about a spa day for you both once she finishes in the summer

ladymalfoy · 23/04/2019 20:20

A sheet mask for sure! One of the ones that bubble up. So much fun .
You sound like a terrific Aunt. If you’ve got a portal to an alternate universe or magic kills/wardrobe as well she’s well in.

ladymalfoy · 23/04/2019 20:20

Skills! Not kills.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 23/04/2019 20:24

My DD is coping with A level stress by the relaxing bath bombs from Lush.
Face masks/facial
Could you give her a voucher for a massage?
Lots of good ideas above-esp vouchers for coffee shop...
A bunch of fresh flowers and smelly candle

Fruityb · 23/04/2019 20:35

Thank you - there are some fab ideas here. Pjs and socks always cheer me up and I’ll see what I can find as a treat day.

She’s like my little sister and she’s such a gorgeous goof. She bloody loves my son as well - I’ll get him to draw her a picture.

And I love the piñata idea!
