Recurring dream, really vivid a few times a month

I have been having a dream for quite a while now, always with a similar theme.
I dream we’ve bought a new house. We always see it beforehand and it’s lovely. Always a lot bigger than my current house though and I always have the feeling that maybe it’ll be a little too big for us.
It’s always an older house, always with a bit of an overgrown garden on the edge of a village.
We move in and I go from room to room, the ground floor is always lovely and as I remember it. The first floor always has to be accessed via a huge sweeping staircase that splits and goes up around both sides iyswim. The staircase is always broken or so narrow with no bannister that I have to jump across in parts. Sometimes there’s an elevator but it’s very small and old and I never feel it’s a safe option.
On the first floor i suddenly discover far more rooms than I thought we had, often they are full of vintage heavy dark furniture and beautiful antiques and valuables. I feel overwhelmed and realise we’ll never use these rooms so just close them back up.
We go to bed on the first night as a family, all camping out in one room as the kids are nervous and the feeling in the house is quite unnerving at night.
I switch the light off and realise that there’s a light coming from up above, through very small door. I go to investigate and realise that there’s another floor above that we didn’t know exists. It’s clearly fully furnished in the most beautiful fabrics and furniture and appears to be lived in.
At this point I usually wake up having rushed down the huge staircase in fright, jumping over the gaps or panicking and trying to find a way down. Or, occasionally I know the room is up there but I tend to close the door on it and try and forget it’s there.
I’m sure all this is trying to tell me something in my subconscious but what can it be? Any ideas? I always wake up feeling horrible and the dream stays with me for hours.
