Just as the title suggests really.. can anyone identify this plant? Came across it on a walk today and had never seen anything like it before!

It's a fern waiting for the beautiful leaves to unfold. I think they're called fronds.

Yes it's a fern. It's just starting to unravel.

In New England they are called fiddleheads and can be boiled and eaten.

I’m not sure if it is a specific type of fern they use.

The name comes from the curled end bit on a violin.
