36 and ttc, scared it will take ages

Hi I'm 36yrs old, 37 in October I have 2 beautiful boys from a previous marriage and now myself and my partner who is 40 really want to try for a baby together after a 5 year relationship. I am having my mirena coil removed on Friday but I'm scared it's too late or will take a long time to conceive. Has anyone else been successful after the age of 35? Would love to hear. Thanks 😊

Got pregnant with DD2 at 35, had her just after I turned 36. We technically took 3 cycles to conceive (compared to just 1 with DD1 at age 31/32), but one of those I had a weird very long cycle so we missed ovulation. So actually I guess it was only 2.

Normal pg, awesome VBAC delivery.

Good luck with the TTC!

I'm nearly 37 and TTC currently. It can be done - I fell pregnant with twins last September but tragically lost them at 19 weeks. Why not join us on the conception boards and get loads of support on yor journey?

Thank you ladies, fingers crossed I'm as lucky as you. I'm so excited x

Yes I was pregnant 7 times between the ages of 35-39 only have one DC but I never had problems actually getting pregnant.

TerryWogansWilly · 22/04/2019 17:22

You should be scared it won't Grin

Good luck!

Answeringonlyyesorno · 22/04/2019 17:34

Yes, aged 37 after two 'goes'. I tracked my ovulation/mucus and advised I'd need 3 cycles to see my pattern, but fell on the 2nd cycle.

I got pregnant very quickly at 35, and that ended in a miscarriage. I then got pregnant the following year and now have a healthy ten month old baby bouncing around the house. I think it's reasonable to expect a few issues, your egg quality will be lower so your chance of miscarrying increases. But I do think it will happen for you if you accept this and persevere.

TwistedBiscuit · 22/04/2019 19:02

Best of luck! I got pregnant with my first aged 36 within a few weeks of starting TTC. No. 2 aged 39 also no problems. There are never any guarantees regardless of your age but there are plenty of women who get pregnant with no issues aged over 35 Smile.

Crinkle77 · 22/04/2019 19:12

I've known loads of people who had no.problem getting pregnant in their mid 30's.

YonWeeLassie · 22/04/2019 19:14

First baby conceived first month of TTC at 37. Second the same at 39.

MulderitsmeX · 22/04/2019 19:26

A lot of my friends were 35+ when ttc and all easily had healthy babies (im the only one in my nct group with "issues" and am a lot younger than the others) . I started in my 20s and had loads of issues, luck of the draw really. Good luck! Xx

Jasmine7823 · 22/04/2019 20:41

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/04/2019 21:19

First pregnancy took 2 months at age 34
Second pregnancy took 2 months at age 36 ( and. DD was born just before my 37th birthday )
Good luck !

vampirethriller · 23/04/2019 07:00

I had my first last year not long after my 37th birthdaySmile

NaughtyLittlePassport · 23/04/2019 07:13

Try OPKs and temping. You don't necessarily ovulate in the middle of your cycle post 35

Neolara · 23/04/2019 07:21

I had 3 dcs between ages 35 and 40. No issue conceiving although I did also have a number of mcs.

Gertie75 · 23/04/2019 07:39

Had my first dd at 38 and second dd at 40

It did take 3 years with my first but I was 3 stone overweight, I then lost it over a period of 12 weeks and fell pregnant.

dd2 was conceived after 1 attempt.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 23/04/2019 07:47

SIL's had 3, all after 38.

Vintagevixen · 23/04/2019 10:06

Got pregnant twice at 36 (one miscarriage) and had my daughter at 37. Took just over a year to get pregnant first time, then 4 months after MC for my daughter. If it's any comfort a friend of mine just had her third at 48, naturally conceived!

Adrianoska · 04/02/2020 18:12

I am 36 and have two children (12 and 6). I now have a new marriage and I am desperate for a baby... But I have been trying for 3 months and nothing... Please tell me I will be ok? I eat healthy, don't ever smoke or drink... I took pregnacare conception but it made my cycles long. Now I ordered some ovulation sticks and fertility lube. We have loads of sex and I feel like a failure... Why is it so stressful? X
