Anyone else got this awful cough / cold that seems to last forever?

I’m now on day 11 and feel worse if anything. My glands are now up. Hurts to swallow. So much gunk in my chest and sinuses, sometimes sounds like popping candy in my throat when I’m breathing, it’s so gross. Still having slight fevers, nothing awful, but I feel so ill (headache, fatigued etc etc)

Woke up at 1:30 and now on the sofa so my hacking doesn’t wake DH and the kids who are also ill. Period started too so also in a lot of pain. Just want to cry!

When will this hell end? DH had last week off and we’ve been stuck infoors for all of it as we are both too ill to get the twins out of the house. DH has been ill since Wednesday but seems to be kicking it quicker, while the twins are still snotty but much improved.

How long can this bloody thing last? I am at the end of my tether!

You may have pneumonia and as such should be seen to

Yes. Im at the tail end of it. 13 days after it started. I found a nasal spray helped my sinus pain. I was in bits. Not quite flu level, i didnt have the mad sweats all the time. But hell i have felt horrendous

At least three weeks in. Feeling shit. Still coughing though there is less snot. Ds is still producing copious quantities of thick green snot.

Me too, although not to the extent you are suffering.
Had a cold the last 2 weeks of term, hacking up crap, temperature, headaches etc. It seemed to fade off just as the holidays started but last week we went away and it came back - more coughing to the point I’m gagging, and blocked ears, headaches and temperature. So bloody annoying but my ears are the worst bit. Sinutab and a sinus spray seen to have done nothing!

I’m so sorry you’re all suffering too, although I’m relieved there is something doing the rounds that lasts this long as I was getting a bit worried!

Assuming I’m still like this tomorrow morning, I’ll be calling for an emergency GP appointment - I don’t feel it’s urgent enough to take up a precious bank holiday out of hours slot, but if my breathing worsens I’ll have to I guess. I hate going to the doctors for a bug, but I’m not sure how you tell the difference between a virus and a bacterial infection.

Every so often I’ll get an hour where I think “oh, it’s finally getting slightly better” and then BOOM, it gets twice as bad. I feel like death.

I’m so upset DH was off last week and is off this week - we’ve done absolutely nothing, apart from lie down and moan while the twins run riot, and now it’s going to rain for the rest of the bloody week. We really need to sort the garden but we are struggling to even lift the boys on to the changing table, it’s ridiculous. What a waste of two weeks off! I’m so cross, as well as just feeling rotten.

Cake isn’t it weird? I’ve had bugs where day nurse etc don’t help much, but with this I might as well be eating smarties - it makes absolutely no difference.
