Has anyone got experience of bone fusion surgery

Hi, my mum is trying to decide whether to accept bone fusion surgery in her feet due to arthritis, however the one person she has spoken to had an awful time with it. Therefore in order to get a better understanding of recovery from this surgery I was hoping that others who have had it might be able to share their experience and tips.

Many thanks in advance

Had bone taken from my hip and tibia years are for when I had spinal fusion. Just afterwards it hurt but this was to be expected. I was on very strong pain killers which helps. (Morphine. Codiane) but it’s a case of time to rest and pain relief.

I had a rib fused to my spine to prevent it from moving due to scoliosis, I'm in constant agony and have severe muscle and nerve damage and there is nothing that can be done to help at all.

I had my wrist fused, and it went perfectly - and my pain levels were so much lower after. Being in a splint for months was less fun, but it worked

I too had a spinal fusion with bone implanted from my hip, plus titanium screws. Mine was done 17 years ago, and it's the best thing I ever did. Spent around 9 months in recovery in total, but it was worth it.

I am week 6 after having a spinal fusion and have to say recovery has been so much better than I thought.
I never suffered excruciating pain like before the OP I was uncomfortable and stiff for approx 3 weeks
The most uncomfortable bit now is where I was cut as itis raised still and rubs
