Games like Sushi Go?

MoniqueTonique · 21/04/2019 17:21

I'm just reposting this here for traffic.
Any suggestions for family card games similar to Sushi Go? Suitable for a 10 yr old, 15 yr old, parents and grandparents. We will take it camping so the small size of the tin is also appealing! Thanks in advance

Monopoly deal
Dutch blitz
Dobble
Burn rate
Exploding kittens

MoniqueTonique · 21/04/2019 17:27

Thanks so much. Didn't get on with Exploding Kittens but will take a look at the othersSmile

Yes Monopoly Deal is nothing like real monopoly and much better.

I was going to suggest exploding kittens, too, which is is my favourite. We also enjoy Tiny Epic Defenders.

EduCated · 21/04/2019 17:31

Cluedo in the same style as Monopoly Deal.

JuneFromBethesda · 21/04/2019 17:32

Dobble is great. I wasn’t bothered with Exploding Kittens either.

We also love Sushi Go. I’d suggest:

Avocado Smash
Cobra Paw

I’m fussy about games, I don’t like convoluted rules and I get bored easily, but I like these ones 😄

Oh also Fluxx, I love that one

MoniqueTonique · 21/04/2019 17:42

Brilliant thanks. June you sound like me! I will have a look at all of these.

Pass the pigs
Bananagrams

MoniqueTonique · 21/04/2019 17:52

I've had a look at Monopoly Deal on Amazon, there seems to be one made by Shuffle and one by Hasbro. Does anyone know if there's a difference?

We love sushi go so watching with interest. Another favourite is a game called love letter.

Exposition · 21/04/2019 18:02

The rest of my family are playing sushi go right now! whilst I get to produce supper grrr
We also like Star Realms (but you need two pack for more than two players, but it's about £11 so not an horrific layout)
Timelines (lots of different versions)
Love letter
GeisteBlitz

All those a result small for travelling.

Exposition · 21/04/2019 18:03

Sorry- they're all small for ease of packing!

EL2019 · 21/04/2019 18:06

“Go fish”, you just need a normal pack of cards.

BareBelliedSneetch · 21/04/2019 18:12

MoniqueTonique we have the shuffle version in the red plastic box.

mononokeswolf · 21/04/2019 18:31

Kaker Laken Poker
Love letter (4 players though if you have 2 packs you can find rules online for 6 players)

(Also not a big fan of exploding kittens)

MoniqueTonique · 21/04/2019 18:50

Thanks for these, brilliant suggestions. @BareBelliedSneetch I will order that version, its a bargain! Smile

Codenames (could be put in a small sandwich bag). It's a good team game but you can play it with just two.

Risk Express if you can find it. I think it's no longer made but there may be a non-branded copy available.

Also filling with interest as we have Sushi Go Party, Avocado Smash and Dobble

PurpleCrazyHorse · 21/04/2019 19:29

following (fat fingers and rubbish predictive text!)

averythinline · 21/04/2019 19:38

Love letters - prpbably the best game with 16 cards ever! but 4 player max.
Gubz is great got a bit more to it than most little card games..

Fluxx - mixed reviews need more playing ...

Port Royal is good but a bit of a longer game than sushi go

Skull was a hit but with more players (and pretty) didnt really work well less than 4

we hate dobble (speed of spotting things games not popular in this slightly quirky house!) and it caused the most arguments camping..as is a natural skill not a card game...

also exploding kittens a bit meh..here too
Fluxx star version and Coup are to be revisited!

we are playing Mind at the moment as saw at an expo

shotten totten is on my list (but I'm not allowed to buy anymore games at the moment Grin

Cagliostro · 21/04/2019 19:39

Go nuts for donuts
Dragonwood
Gubs
Hanabi
Organ attack

averythinline · 21/04/2019 19:42

lidl had labyrinth - so was allowed that, not bad for 3.99! have also bought the scotland yard for fathers day (any excuse....)

PurpleCrazyHorse · 21/04/2019 19:51

@Exposition Timeline looks amazing, definitely going to get that (might improve our general knowledge!!)

MoniqueTonique · 21/04/2019 21:08

Just popped back to see more suggestions. I think I am on the same wavelength as lots of you, looking for games that can keep everyone involved and mostly happy! Lots to research, I'm looking at all the ideas. Smile

MoniqueTonique · 21/04/2019 21:11

Just ordered Port Royal @averythinline thank you! We also like Splendor which is a longer game so this may suit us.

Isitme13 · 21/04/2019 21:19

Sleeping queens
Go nuts for donuts
Dobble (many variations available)
UNO is much underrated imo!
Too many monkeys is quite fun, but fairly simple - might be a bit on the young side.
Eye found it card version is good too - there is a Disney version fairly widely available, but there is a history/time version too which is good.
