I'm doing 7 hour lamb in the oven; brown the meat, and put it in a casserole with onions, garlic, carrots, stock and wine. Leave it alone for 7 hours and serve. It's beautiful.

BF is at work until 5.30, so we are bbqing tonight. There is brisket of beef in the smoker, and there will be ribs, pork belly slices and sausages on the bbq.

SushiTrain · 21/04/2019 13:04

We have a roll ur own sushi at the table-followed by a cream tea as a kind of pud..

larry55 · 21/04/2019 13:05

We are going to do for Sunday roast but the chicken is cooking in my oven as theirs is not big enough.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/04/2019 13:08

I'm doing slow roast lamb with all the trimmings - it is what I planned for Easter sunday when I did the planning, over a week ago. I could have changed the plan, and changed the supermarket delivery order, but I live in Scotland, and whilst I knew the forecasters were promising us wonderful weather, I didn't trust them.

Anyhow, I know that, if I had changed my plan to a delicious salad for today's meal, I would be looking out at lashing rain, high winds and temperatures only just above zero.

Frankly none of the meals I planned for this weekend were suitable for the weather - but if I'd changed them, it would have scared the good weather away - so by keeping to my original plan, I am solely responsible for the UK's good weather this weekend. You're welcome!

It's pissing down and Baltic here so roast lamb is perfectly appropriate. I've had it marinating in a garlic and herb paste for 24 hours and I'm looking forward to.

Yogagirl123 · 21/04/2019 13:24

DH is cooking roast dinner here! 21 degrees here LOL 😂

SpeckledyHen · 21/04/2019 13:25

Nope . One roast a year on Christmas Day and that’s one too many imo .

ChicCroissant · 21/04/2019 13:31

Yes! It is warm here too, so may head into the garden to avoid the hot oven in the kitchen Grin Turkey and/or pork here.

Montsti · 21/04/2019 13:44

We had roast lamb for lunch...the whole family loves a roast and we have it most Sundays anyway...we’re abroad where the climate is much better but it doesn’t stop us!

Raspberrytruffle · 21/04/2019 13:46

No we had it on Thursday instead as we have a treat meal once a week as both trying to loose weight to start conceiving, were having gunpowder pork and jasmine rice for tea Smile

MamaDane · 21/04/2019 13:48

At MIL's and we're BBQ-ing 😁 weather is so lovely so might as well.

EngagedAgain · 21/04/2019 13:49

No way! I've learnt my lesson many times over. Hours slaving over a hot stove on a hot day, eaten in ten minutes flat, and everyone disappears, leaving me with the mess to clean up.

AnduinsGirl · 21/04/2019 13:50

Not for me. I usually do lamb for Easter Sunday (even though it's just for me) but today I'm having home made fish pie and banoffee pie at around 5ish. Can't wait :)

vegpatch · 21/04/2019 13:53

Yep, a veggie roast with leeks in cheese sauce, and her by roasted root veg, then hot cross bun pudding.
We always have a roast...I don't think my family are even aware that it is possible to have a Sunday without a roast. .

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/04/2019 13:56

No, we had one a couple of weeks ago and probably won't again till next winter now, we rarely bother apart from at Christmas. We had a picnic lunch in the garden, more of the same planned for later.

sproutsandparsnips · 21/04/2019 14:00

Yes but we are bbqing butterfly leg of lamb with veggies roasted on BBQ and salad.

Tessywoooooo · 21/04/2019 14:06

It’s 20 degrees here in n Ireland today and judging by the smells of lamb cooking when I was out walking there are plenty roasting 😆

Aragog · 21/04/2019 14:09

No, but we rarely do anyway.

Parents coming later so having fillet steaks on BBQ with a peppercorn or blue cheese sauce, and jacket potatoes

RoseDog · 21/04/2019 14:09

I bought a roast in the bag chicken but having it with potato croquets out the freezer and salad!

MatchSetPoint · 21/04/2019 14:09

No, I’ve left it last minute to book a table at a restaurant so we are now going to Pizza Hut of all places tonight with my elderly parents it will be a new experience for them, the kids have never been either. I’m not dreading it because it still means I’m not cooking but I’m not looking forward to it either.

SinglePringle · 21/04/2019 14:13

I’ve spatchcocked a chicken and rubbed half a tonne of butter mixed with harissa, lemon, garlic and smoked paprika under and over the skin.

Currently marinading and will be had later with an avocado pea and watercress salad in a sumak and yoghurt dressing and homemade coleslaw. And wine. And gin.

GooodMythicalMorning · 21/04/2019 14:17

24 degrees in my bit of dorset. Too hot for roast so just doing a buffet type meal as lots of choc already eaten so suspect the small ones won't fancy a heavy meal anyway.

bigbluebus · 21/04/2019 14:21

No. Made the decision yesterday to buy lamb leg steaks instead of a leg of lamb. Too hot to put the oven on Will have salad and new potatoes.

Penguinpandarabbit · 21/04/2019 14:23

DH cooking roast dinner here and 22C, we seem to have acquired a friend's child too for lunch. Grin
