Do I need a plumber?

Last night I noticed one of the blankets in the airing cupboard was wet so after investigation I found that one of the copper pipes from the ceiling had condensation on it. The water tank was also wet with condensation, there is no wet on the floor and there are also three other pipes coming down from the ceiling and they are dry. What's going on I have no idea it's at times like this I wish I was in the same country as my dad!! Is it a leak? God I hope not I'd imagine that would be a nightmare for me and cost a bomb to sort! Any ideas anyone? I actually have a plumber coming on Wednesday to refit a bathroom suite, would it be ok to wait till then and get him to have a look? Help!! I'm worried I'm going to have a burst pipe 🙁

Dry the pipes off with kitchen towel, empty the cupboard and spread more kitchen towel on the floor so you can see if there are any leaks.

If the temperature outside is high it could just be condensation on the cold water pipes.

Phew!! Thank you I'll do that, hopefully that's all it is then as weather has been nice last two days although I've never noticed it before when weather was warmer.

We had this with the cold water pipes in the airing cupboard when they fitted a new system .
We just fitted them with foam pipe lagging and problem solved .
Think it was from warm air hitting cold pipes .
Hopefully your problem is the same .

Yep - as Windy if it's definitely condensation then lagging is the fix.

Sounds like you don't have any on the pipes or the tank? Both are dead easy, and lots of DIY places have money off for the bank holiday weekend...

Thank you I love Mumsnet you lot are fab Smile i have no insulation on the pipes but have the tank covered BUT the cat has clawed at it recently so it is falling apart a bit! I will head to the shops tomorrow and pick up some insulation for the tank and pipes. Thanks again just glad it's not a leak 👍😀
