And what did you use? Google suggests tin snips but I don't have any.

My brother did about 30 years ago with a monkey wrench and a pair of mum’s kitchen scissors (totally ruined them!!) - he ended up back in A&E the following day where mum had to explain to the orthopaedic Drs why he’s done it (he was in his teens) and he ended up back in another, bigger cast and for longer as the Drs were worried he’d done damage to his leg overnight!!

I wouldn’t advise diy removal - they take them off so early nowadays compared to them that most people end up in some sort of brace for weeks after the cast is removed!!

I've got the brace at home already and have been in the brace before.

Dr said he'd be happy for me to be in the brace for a bit longer but I actually asked for a cast as I thought I'd be more compliant with it as previously I was a bit naughty and kept taking the brace off.

But I hate the cast and out of the two evils I'd rather be back in the brace and this time be as good as gold and not take it off.

Got sand in my cast on holiday so cut it off with a hacksaw. Displaced the bone and needed an operation.

We were allowed to remove dd’s cast at home after she broke her arm. Just used scissors, they’d left a gap where it was slightly softer material to allow us to be able to do it.

I won't displace any bones. It's more of a tendon issue with a stress reaction in the bone. It just needs to be immobilised.

I'm scared to use a hacksaw in case I cut myself.
