£20 and a MH afternoon for just you.

What would you spend the money on? And what would you do to relax?

I have a spare afternoon next week shouldn't be any house stuff to do so I'm treating myself to a mental health afternoon.

Good book, garden chair in the shade. Bliss.

fallafal · 20/04/2019 10:38

What do you like to do?

AlpacaPicnic · 20/04/2019 10:38

Nice lunch somewhere and then a film, or maybe a matinee at the theatre if that's in the price range.

NorthEndGal · 20/04/2019 10:39

Beach, every time! I go sea glassing, and I'd use the money for fuel so I could hit more beaches!

@fallafal
Honestly, that's the problem with me I struggle to just stop and relax, I seem to always be rushing from one thing to the next work shopping etc.

I think i might treat myself to a nice peice of cake from the local cafe and perhaps a new pair of pj's and sit and watch some rubbishy tv.

I would use the £20 to buy something nice for lunch and then spend the afternoon reading in the sunshine. If it isn't sunny, I would probably curl up on the settee and catch up on the programmes I recorded over a year ago and haven't had time to watch.

Rockbird · 20/04/2019 12:17

A large coffee and a slice of cake and take it into the cinema. A solo film is one of my favourite treats.

BarbaraofSevillle · 20/04/2019 12:29

If the weather is still good you need to get outdoors. I'm currently sitting on a bench eating fish and chips between a castle and a lake. Then I will go for a walk.

Pyjamas and TV can wait until its dark and raining.

Guylian2019 · 20/04/2019 12:49

If you spend the whole day watching tv or reading you'll feel like it's been wasted. The outdoors is best for mental health. Go for a nice walk for a couple of hours: forest, beach, lake or river in the morning. Then either go out for lunch or go and buy something to take home (including snacks. Strawberries would be good).
I'm the afternoon laze reading in the garden (wrapped in a duvet if chilly!) and then veg watching TV or films.

AuntieStella · 20/04/2019 12:55

I would go for a really long run - being outdoors and being active makes me feel heaps better on every level - then spend the dosh on a nice takeaway

SquirmOfEels · 20/04/2019 12:58

Yes with those saying get outdoors!

I'd go for a walk round one of the parks that's a bit further away from where I live (so it feels a bit more special than just going to one of the closest) with picnic blanket, punnet of strawberries and a half bottle of white)

PH03b3 · 20/04/2019 13:33

Oooh i might go to the cinema and then a walk around a landmark near where i am that i haven't for years and take my blanket and read a book /more than likely mumsnet.

I wish i lived near a beach!

I live near a beach, I'd walk to the farthest point (less people), sit and read a book whilst listening to the waves crashing. Bliss. Always.

DonPablo · 20/04/2019 14:38

I'd get a Lebanese takeaway for lunch and eat it in the garden with a bottle of ice cold gavi. And probably snooze it all off later with a book that I don't read...

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 20/04/2019 14:53

I would take a trip to the garden centre (or B&M / Wilko) and get some compost, seeds and pots for the garden

ThisIsTheEndgame · 20/04/2019 14:58

I would go for a swim then go to the cinema to see Shazam! or maybe Hellboy. Or maybe Captain Marvel again if it's still on. The pool and cinema are in the same complex so that is easy enough. The budget means I would need to bring a sandwich so I have a few quid left for a kids snack deal to have with the film.
