Hay fever symptoms have ramped up - please help!

Hay fever symptoms started in February Hmm started Superdrug one a day antihistamine, all good

Yesterday, runny nose, sneezing, itchy throat all start up, despite still taking the pills. I obviously need something stronger. Any recommendations for what I can get from the pharmacy? I need something to dry up the snot and stop the itch. So sick of it. Thanks

I use a once a day tablet and a nasal spray, the spray I use helps eyes as well. I feel you I suffer badly in the summer.

You have all of my sympathies. You can try to add a nasal decongestant, but the recommendation for those is a couple of weeks maximum. I would also book an appointment with your GP as they can prescribe a stronger antihistamine (the OTC ones are made for mild/moderate hay fever).

If you drink alcohol, stop. Also, fermented foods and caffeine are supposedly histamine triggers. I know, no fun at all.

Phenergan for night time - it also helps you sleep. Might be too drowsy for the day though.

Go to the GP and get a nasal spray, it really helps.

I take certirizine every morning during hay fever season and top up with piriton if necessary. I find that antihistamines work best if you take them preventatively, before you've developed a bad reaction.
