Was he flirting? And if he was, how do I respond?

Yesterday a very nice man came to repair my washing machine (he didn't actually manage to do this but is returning next week for another go :) ). We seemed to hit it off - lots of banter, including him telling me I reminded him of someone famous. He also said he'd met his match which I imagined was a reference to the fact we were having a laugh. Or perhaps I'm desperate imagining stuff?

Should I try and see if he is attached when he returns later next week? Or should I preserve a dignified silence and a respectable distance?

Ask him if he’s single! Smile

How?! He'll know I'm interested if I do that?

Ask if he did anything nice for Easter, how many eggs his children got etc. Open up the conversation to whatever his family situation is.

I'm going to watch this with interest as I'm wondering if a man at place I work at occasionally is 'nice' to me too and I've turned into a giggling school girl. I've ask a colleague of his if he's single but I have no idea what to do next! (48, single for a couple of years after 15 year marriage!)

Ooh Dhal you must be brave and pave the way!

Half of me is saying "you have nothing to lose" and the other half is saying " you'll look like a dick and it will be awkward if he's not interested" ! I shall try and be brave...I'm back at that workplace on Thursday, I'll see if he's working 😎

What time is he returning next week? Could you potentially suggest a coffee /pint somewhere nearby afterwards?

I. E. 'Oh, thanks so much for all your hard work, let me buy you a drink at the pub next door, it's a lovely evening'
