Slow cooker leg of lamb

Has anyone done a leg of lamb in the slow cooker before?

I can see a few recipes - varying from 5h to 10h and don't want to get it wrong for easter dinner, if anyone's any experience with it.

I had to saw the end off last time! In slow cooker for about 7 hours, was great

FluffySocks123 · 19/04/2019 16:48

I do it 8 hours on low

I've wrapped foil around the top if it sticks out and after a few hours the meat falls off the bone and I take the bone out Smile

Do you reckon half a leg would fit in the slowcooker?

I did a leg of lamb in the slow cooker last weekend, 7 hrs on low, fitted perfectly.

Get 2 halves if you can, you can sort of jigsaw them in easier

I did, it was a bit of a struggle to fit it in! But it was beautiful, fell off the bone!

beachyhead · 19/04/2019 19:32

Or two half shoulders?

Don't have a slow cooker but I used oven to slow roast a whole leg of lamb today. Browned meat on hob first. Added 3 sliced onions, 3 sliced carrots to the roasting tray with a whole bulb of garlic (split into cloves), 300ml of wine. Then placed lamb on top & put lid on. Into oven at 120 for 5 hours. Drained off the liquid and pushed the veg through the sieve to thicken it, but it did need reduced as we all like thick gravy. Had it with leeks in cheese sauce, green beans & sugar snaps & roast new potatoes. It is possibly the best roast I've ever done.

I did a seven hour lamb from the good food site. Not in the slow cooker cos it didn't fit in it.... but it was beautiful in the oven.
Was also hard to brown off in a pan....
Super easy though, and delicious.

If you get it from a butcher he can bone it for you.
