How long did it take for your vision to settle?

DH has it done on Monday and his vision is still quite blurry. Is that normal?

Had mine in 2004 so had to think back a looooong way but yes, IIRC, it takes a couple of weeks to settle down. Took me ages to get used to not wearing glasses - after 30 years my face felt weird.

Mine was bad for over a week, which is unusual, but 10 years later still good

Hi OP, my DH has it done last year and said his eyes weren't fully recovered for a few weeks. Your DH's eye scars will still be healing so it sounds normal to me.

I had instant vision but I was very light sensitive for several years

I remember being driven home and through the squinting it was the best eyesight I'd ever had Grin I had it done on Friday morning and was back to normal Monday morning.

Up and down for a while. Dry eyes can make vision worse. It’s partly also relearning things — I found I had to hold books in a completely different way to focus properly.

Thank you everyone! It’s reassuring to know that it’s normal!

I had Lasik done on Monday, I find just after using the antibiotic and steroid drops my eyes are irritated and blurry and then when my eyes get dry the vision is less clear, but using artificial tear drops liberally seems to help. Also not managing to read or watch screens any length of time as must blink less which causes eyes to dry out, had a whole day outdoors yesterday (with sunglasses) and noticed a big difference in clarity.

Has your DH been for follow up appointment yet or have one arranged? My vision after 24 hours was better than 20/20 and fine to drive as long as not immediately after medicated eye drops. I also have another follow up next week to check bruising around the flap is settling. I know vision can take longer to settle with Lasek.

He has had a follow up - 24 hours after he had it done. He’s got another appointment next week. He can see better than he used to but things are still blurry. Hopefully it’ll get better with time!

Oh, and tell him NOT to close one eye and try to focus with the other - I panicked and thought there was a problem; eyes are designed to work together!!
