Marriage counseling

So Mr Owl has lied to me about various things, but mainly to do with an emotional affair he's been having with a colleague. Part of me just wants to LTB, but that would leave me hugely financially and practically worse off.

Has anyone done marriage counselling? Did it work? Have you managed to rebuild trust? Or am I going to be like Emma Thompson in love actually and 'it's always going to be a little bit worse?'

Thanks in advance from a bruised and broken owl...

It takes a very long time to rebuild trust but if the two of you are open and he is genuinely mortified by what happened and you can look at why it happened and both be prepared to make changes and hear a lot of very honest possibly hurtful stuff, then yes I believe it can work. Beware some marriage counsellors are crap though. Keep going until you find the right one

It would only work if he REALLY wanted it to.

One person can't save a marriage alone.
