Top tips for country days out

Could you tell me please your top tips for a day out in the country?

We live very rurally (n Scotland) and this Saturday is supposed to be lovely weather so we are going to head out west.

We spend a lot of time in the country with bikes and scooters etc and kids play in the garden loads. Today they are on electric buggies playing cops and robbers!

Anyway they are 6 and 9 and getting a little bored of the same beach and dog walks so I wanted something a bit fun for Saturday.

What should I pack for the ultimate beach day out?

Thought we would head to a bear infested beach and so no shops or loos etc but I want them to have a really fun day out.

We don't often see the sun here so beach walks are usually chilly and brief!!

Thanks in advance Wink

Best infested beach.

I’d take a shotgun just in case any of the bears are hungry.

Or a jar of honey with a very tight lid so you can run away whilst the bear is trying to get it open.

Oops.

Near deserted beach!!! Bloody autocorrect

See if you can get a Kubb game. It's addictive though!
We got ours from Lidl

Ah, near deserted! OK. (I did try to work out the right words...Grin)

fwiw we had an Argyll coast holiday with kids aged 3-14 in June one year. The beaches were absolutely deserted & they had a fab time (although there were 4 of them, plus one day we borrowed another from a family staying at the same place)

We did standard bucket & spade stuff, frisbees & balls, maybe quoits/cricket set too (25 plus years ago, I forget!)

You could also consider a couple of big garden games like Jenga?

foreverhomefornow · 18/04/2019 20:58

Cricket would be good yes!

I love rounders but there are only four of us so it's not ideal!

Will pack the honey tho just in case!!

Have you a boules set? Flat sand beaches are perfect for that Smile

Giggling my head off at bear infested beach!

Tin foil! And foil trays or a roasting pan/frying pan.
Take bananas and chocolate. Gather driftwood, make a fire, put (dry) rocks round it, slice the banana longways, put chocolate in the middle, wrap them in foil (make a sort of tent with a rolled over top with some space) and cook them beside the fire.
